In the Czech Republic, there are approximately 700 heritage zones, but only around 40 heritage reserves. Heritage reserves are subject to the strictest level of protection, making any modifications, especially modern technological installations, highly challenging. One such protected area is home to the Creative Cultural Center of Litoměřice. As a public building, energy consumption is significant, and cost-saving measures are essential. Recognizing the potential of solar energy, the city of Litoměřice approached us to explore the possibility of installing photovoltaic (PV) panels while complying with heritage conservation regulations.

Our Approach
To achieve this, we precisely scanned and mapped the building and designed a solar panel layout that adhered to the guidelines of the National Heritage Institute. We conducted market research to identify PV modules that closely matched the color of the existing roof, ensuring minimal visual impact. Additionally, we incorporated a custom metal cladding into the mounting structure, designed to seamlessly align with the roof's geometry and enhance the historical aesthetic.

The Result?
The heritage authorities approved the installation during the very first meeting, a significant milestone proving that modern energy solutions can be successfully integrated into protected historical environments when approached with care and precision
